At Merrill Middle School, we put individuals first by cultivating a safe and inclusive environment by intentionally supporting the whole person through equity, social-emotional learning, academics, and joy to achieve success now and in the future.
At Merrill Middle School, Black students will be empowered to show their successes in a way that is authentic to their learning style. Black students will have access to grade-level academics. Black students and families at Merrill Middle School will feel accepted to voice and advocate their needs and wants. Black families at Merrill are included in the decision-making process of the school. Black families and students are represented in the physical space and curriculum at Merrill Middle School.
Black students have an affinity space (Black Student Alliance) and multiple empowering experiences and conference opportunities throughout the school year.
By focusing on Culturally Responsive Strategies and Adult Development, Positive Behavior Incentives, Attendance Celebrations, and focused student work analysis in data teams, Merrill’s Black students will increase academic achievement.
