The Merrill Space

Here at Merrill we want every student to feel safe, and secure.  School is a home away from home for some kids and everyone should feel safe.  Learn how you can help, and learn about resources for your student below:

Merrill offers a safe space for LGBTQIA+ students! Merrill’s GSA (Gay-Straight Alliance) is hosted by Mr. Zaffar, Ms. Miccio, and Mr. Patterson.  It’s a place for LGBTQIA+ and straight students alike to sit down and discuss the issues that face LGBTQIA+ students both at school, and out in the real world.  This club can be used as a place to talk about all of our experiences, the bad, and the good. Meetings are held every Tuesday from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm.

We understand that sometimes it may be hard to:

1. Come to terms with your own sexuality and identity

2. Figure out how to tell your friends, parents, guardians, or extended family.

In GSA, we offer a safe, welcoming place to explore these things and get support from the counselors and teachers who lead the club and the other students in the club who may be going through the same things you are.

To attend all you have to do is go to meet.google.com  and type in the Google meet code: “TheMerrillSpace”.

You may be wondering how you can support LGBTQIA+ students in Denver and other parts of the country.  Donating to the listed organizations could make being an LGBTQIA+ student better for your child and are places where you can find more information and resources about supporting LGBT+ youth.
