Earth Science Curriculum
Units/Materials

Trimester 1
Rocks and Landforms
            Students will be investigating different rocks and their formation, weathering and erosion.

Our Dynamic Planet
            Students will be investigating earthquakes, volcanoes, mountains, continents and natural Hazards.

Trimester 2
Our Dynamic Planet
            Students will continue investigating earthquakes, volcanoes, mountains, continents and natural Hazards.

Earth and Space: Astronomy
            Students will be investigating the planets including details about the moon sun, and stars.

Water as a Resource
            Students will be investigating how water moves in the water cycle, its sources and quality.

Trimester 3
Water as a Resource
            Students will continue investigating how water moves in the water cycle, its sources and quality.

Climate and Weather
            Students will be investigating weather reports, maps, and tools for measuring weather, its causes and climates and its changes.

Trimester 1 Project:
Asteroid Impact: students create a living space for people to survive an asteroid hitting earth based on their knowledge of rocks.

Trimester 2 Project:
Planet Creature: students describe and create a poster of what life would be like for a person living on their chosen planet.

Science Fair Project: students design their own project.
