School Psychologists support the Denver Public Schools in the areas of mental health and learning interventions, as well as psychological assessments to support the high quality education and academic and social emotional success for all students. School Psychologists are committed to data-driven decision making to ensure that effective academic interventions are implemented for all at risk students. In addition, School Psychologists support identification of and interventions for gifted and talented students.
School psychologist at schools:
- support the school staff and community with a variety of services
- offer individual and group counseling for students to support educational success
- collaborate and consult with teachers, administrators, and parents regarding:
- school wide character education and social skills programs
- classroom management and behavioral interventions to meet the needs of students who struggle with social emotional learning.
Students who may need evaluations and special programming through Sp.Ed. or Gifted and Talented are typically evaluated by a school psychologist. School Psychologists provide expertise in psychological assessments, evaluations of student learning abilities and emotional functioning and consultation with teachers, administrators and parents on behavioral, psychological, and educational issues and programming. In addition, school psychologists support schools with access to community resources to support students and families.
Our school psychologist is Lindsay_Coble. This is her second year at Merrill. She is available Wednesdays and Thursdays. |
