Pre-AP Honors Program

2007 - 2008

For the third year in a row, Merrill students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades may study Language Arts, Math, Science, or Social Studies in-depth through the Merrill honors program. Students with their parent’s guidance may select to take one honors class, or all four, depending on their strengths and interests. These classes will be composed of honors students exclusively, and those students will have opportunities for more in-depth study, and critical research. The SpringBoard program, a division of College Board, will be in place at Merrill for Language Arts classes this fall. We are thrilled to be the first middle school to provide a proven program that offers reading and writing instruction that is based on COLLEGE BOARD Standards for College Success. SpringBoard is the only program that specifically addresses the academic requirements needed for success in the first year of college. SpringBoard begins in 6th grade and builds the academic skills that students need to master for success in accelerated and AP courses in high school as well as college-level work.
