MESA (Math, Science, Engineering Association) is an exciitng club, sponsored by David Redhorse and Caryl Olson. The club meets every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays for fun science activities, snacks, hanging out, field trips, and learning more about science. This popular club is attended by many students. Ms. Olson, a science teacher, will incorporate NRL racecar competition as an extra fun activity. The MESA program encourages minority students to pursue an interest in science and technology. |

Students learn to work together in groups with hands-on, minds-on activities that are designed to help them build math and science as well as literacy skills. Field trips encourage students to look at the larger world and help them begin to contemplate their place in it.
MESA places a strong emphasis on encouraging middle school students to enroll in and complete pre-algebra, the critical gatekeeper course for higher-level course work in mathematics and science.
Check the Merrill calendar to locate many of their activities. |
